Srebrenica holds a very big place in my heart. It is a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina that suffered a devastating genocide in 1995. The shadow of the massacre of 8000 Muslim men that took place there still hangs over the town. In 2011, some friends and I went there to do a service project to connect with the young people, promote cultural exchange and learn more about how the history of the place affected the town. Like most Westerners, we came with the idea that we could change and improve their lives. Instead, they changed ours.
