A Tribute to Nelson Mandela

What would Mandela do?

Nelson Mandela, the most powerful two words I have probably ever mentioned, that do more than just capture one’s attention but lead people to think about bravery and forgiveness that changed the world. As the world mourns such a terrible loss, I have been lead to think about things the ‘Mandela’ way.
Considering that his purpose was to be a pioneer to the youth, what are we doing to fulfil his wishes?
Having grown up in South Africa, there was one day that I knew was certainly more important than my own birthday: July 18th, Mandela’s birthday. Every year he would give a speech and in the later years a family member would speak on his behalf, but the message remained the same:
"We would be honoured if such a day can serve to bring together people around the world to fight poverty and promote peace and reconciliation."
It is important for us to know that according to him, his actions were never about him, but were all about the world and making it better in his eyes. Even though we are sad to have lost our hero, a man who’s importance can never be put in words, we have to really look back at his life and let it inspire our future and really extend his legacy in ways that we can.
May Tata Mandela’s soul rest in peace, and may his spirit of global improvement remain in us all.

“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace” – Nelson Mandela
